Rebecca D. Coughlan joined Bay State IP as an associate in September 2016. An Intellectual Property Attorney, Rebecca has experience in a broad range of legal issues. Rebecca is proficient in advising clients about various IP matters including trademark, trade dress, and copyright issues.
Rebecca has experience in prosecuting US trademark applications, drafting contracts and licenses. Further, she continues to gain invaluable experience prosecuting international trademark applications by aiding in the handling of matters before the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).
Rebecca first joined Bay State IP as a law clerk in the summer of 2014 and continued to work with the firm throughout the remainder of the year. She graduated from Suffolk University Law School with a concentration in Intellectual Property Law with distinction. At Suffolk, Rebecca focused her studies in Intellectual Property, Business and Entertainment Law.
Rebecca discovered her interest in intellectual property law while completing an internship at Universal Music Publishing Group in Nashville Tennessee during her last semester of college.
Rebecca is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of New Hampshire. Furthermore, Rebecca is a member of a variety of associations including the Boston Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the American Bar Association.
Prior to joining Bay State IP, Rebecca interned at various firms throughout the greater Boston area where she was familiarized with several business regulation issues including tax law, film and television regulations, privacy issues, transfer of intellectual property, landlord and tenant law, and more.
Rebecca earned her Music Business degree from the University of Massachusetts, Lowell and her Juris Doctor (JD) degree from Suffolk University Law School.
